C-MRA - Community Mobilization for Regenerative Agriculture
C-MRA successfully completed the first pilot programme of follow-up training, support and extension work with the farmers in Asumbi who completed the first farmer training in the permEzone pilot program. They are a registered Community Based Organization based in Migori County, a district bordering Lake Victoria in South-Western Kenya.
C-MRA have now delivered the 3rd pilot programme with a group of farmers in Kisa West, Kakamega County, Kenya. Some of the 30 farmers participating in the programme are pictured above following their first day of training.

The C-MRA Team
Paul Omolo is C-MRA’s representative for Phase 1 of the permEzone pilot program in Migori county, and will be a key member of the MEL team for research and data collection in the field. Paul has a BSc in Horticulture from Moi University, Eldoret and has successfully completed a Professional Certification Course in Program Monitoring and Evaluation with The Kenya Institute of Management.
He took his Permaculture Design Certification (PDC) course in Laikipia Permaculture Centre. Previously, as a member of the Permaculture Research Institute, Kenya's projects team, he worked for the USAID Kenya Horticulture Competitiveness project, initially as a Field Agronomist and then as Project Coordinator in Migori County. He has also worked as a Field Assistant (Horticulture) at Sauri Millennium Village, and as a Sales Agronomist for East African Seed Company. |
Caroline Atieno has done a course on food production at the Kenya Utalii College. She has been involved in community work since 2012 and has developed passion in sustainable farming. She is currently practicing vegetable farming and has been inspired by the work C-MRA has done. She has been trained by C-MRA on permaculture as a trainer. She is now assisting in training the community as she is being mentored by C-MRA to equip her with more skills on permaculture. |
Isack Oshaw attained a certificate in Agribusiness at National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) in 2019. He has been passionate about organic farming since 2013 when he joined high school. He was recently recruited by C-MRA and trained to be a trainer. He is currently practicing permaculture in his farm and he will greatly influence the beneficiaries especially during practical sessions as he is hands-on. |
