MORE SUCCESS STORIES FROM Kisa West
We’re happy to share some photos taken recently by the team at CMRA to illustrate some of the techniques being adopted by the 30 lead farmers who completed their permEzone training this time last year.
Now that they’re in the implementation stage of the project, the farmers were looking forward to a good long rainy season to help in building their soils and establishing good cropping systems. However, they’ve experienced fluctuations in the rainfall pattern which has impacted their productivity.
Despite the erratic rainfall, the farmers are making good use of the little rainfall they receive by implementing their new farm designs: they’re putting what they’ve learned into practice, and starting to build practical experience of what works in their local environment.

Building sustainable futures
This third pilot project has nine more months to run through to its completion. Over the coming months, the team at C-MRA will be continuing with their vigorous extension work to improve on permaculture good practices, assisting the beneficiaries with site designs, and implementing participatory monitoring & evaluation to gather the data we need to demonstrate the value of this work.
With the end of the pilot in sight, positive steps are being taken to build the capacity to take this work forward on a much greater scale. We look forward to sharing more information about those plans as they start to take shape.

Please help build on the success of the permEzone pilot to make this incredible program available to many more communities of farmers, so that they too can re-shape the future of their families, their farms, and their local economies –
