Article about permEzone's 2nd pilot project, in Uganda
Charles Mugarura just shared this article with us that appeared in the Ugandan national press.
The article talks about the permEzone training that was organised by Charles’ team at Broadfield Enterprise Uganda to enable willing farmers to produce food and supplement their incomes while saving the environment through good practices. It talks about the challenging local environment, and marvels at how the farmers have learnt how to adapt and look for ways for survival and at the lush green gardens containing different crops.
“For permaculture to thrive or become policy in Uganda, it will require putting indigenous agricultural practices at the front before industrial agriculture”.

Paul took his Permaculture Design Certification course in Laikipia Permaculture Centre, has a BSc in Horticulture, and a Professional Certification in Program Monitoring and Evaluation. He previously worked for the Permaculture Research Institute, Kenya's projects team, and has experience as a Field Agronomist, a Project Coordinator, a Field Assistant (Horticulture), and a Sales Agronomist.
Building new communities to take this work forward
Our volunteer Project Board is now focused on developing new organizational structures to start putting into practice everything that we have learned through the three pilot projects that we’ve been running in Kenya and Uganda. We’ll be bringing you more updates from our 3rd and final pilot with the farmers in Kisa West in our next Newsletter.
